An English lever watch by Samuel Edgcumbe of 11 Cornwall Street Plymouth which was presented to his apprentice by the watchmaker himself. The watch is in excellent condition & comes with the original brass dust cover (not shown in the pictures). The silver case has the Chester hallmark for 1888, it has no dents, just some slight wear to the engine turning. The inner rear cover is engraved. PRESENTED TO JAMES ALFRED BROWNE BY HIS MASTER SAMUEL EDGCUMBE ON THE COMPLETION OF HIS APPRENTICESHIP WHICH HE SERVED WITH ZEAL AND ENERGY Dec 24-88. The dial has no cracks or chips & has the original hands. A historically very interesting watch. Comes with a key to wind the watch & set the hands.
