A heavy silver cased chronograph with a stop/start slide on the edge at II. The case has a smooth rear cover with a central shield. The case edge is milled. The front & rear hinged covers close firmly & evenly, the hinges are gold. The case has the London hallmark for 1874, the case makers mark J.W & the number 81330. There is a rear inner silver dustcover with 2 key holes marked WIND-UP & SET HANDS. The dial is excellent with no chips or cracks. The 'glass' is a later perspex replacement. The movement has the number 81330 it is running well & keeping good time. These type of watches were generally used by Doctors because of the ability to stop & start the movement for timing pulses etc. The slide is pushed up (anti clockwise) to stop & down to re-start. Unlike later chronographs, the whole movement is stopped, causing disruption to the time keeping, so that the watch was only stopped for long enough to take a reading & then immediatly re-started.
 Condition: Excellent
Dimensions: 2,1/16 (52mm) diameter excluding the stem
