The front, rear & rear inner covers are hinged, all close firmly & evenly. On the edge at II is a gold slide button, this is to start & stop the movement for timeing purposes (slide up to stop, down to start). These type of watches were also known as Doctors watches & were used for timeing a pulse. The rear covers have the Chester hallmark for 1901 & the case makers mark TR. The thick bevelled glass has some minor edge chips. The dial is excellent with no chips or cracks, it has a centre seconds hand & 1/5 second divisions. The movement is marked Thos Russell & Son. Makers to Queen Victoria. Liverpool. It is running well & keeping good time.
