This brooch could well be French from the Napoleonic era. It has a hinged loop so that it can also be worn as a pendant. It is in a star shape and set with many turquoises graduating in size and a central cut garnet. The edge of the setting has a delicate pierced design. The piece is not marked but believed to be 18ct gold. One of the smallest turquoises at a point has darkened more than the rest but it is original.
