This very special dish is Hallmarked for Sterling Silver with a Maker's Mark of "SW", which has been identified as Samuel Wheat. (Please see Gimwade, 1990, p191). He is thought to have worked beteen 1756 and1773, which gives a good indication of the date range of this piece. The dish may have originated as part of some sort of set - for example, as an epergne dish. The craftsmanship is so good , however, that the dish is highly attractive and displayable on its own - a really stunning item in its own right. Please view the photographs. The design is flowing, as beaded and plain decoration swirls downwards into the bowl, from the heads of twelve sectors which begin on the varied decoration of the rim. This is a really stunning item!
 Condition: Excellent
Dimensions: Top of dish diameter about 14.5cm; base narrowest at roughly 6cm. Weight: About 200 grams
