Montague Dawson considered by many to be our finest Marine artist of the 20c. As a boy he lived in Smugglers House, Southampton Water. Joined the Royal Navy in the WW1.Lived at Milford on Sea and exhibited at the R.A. between 1916 - 1936. He died in 1973. "In Full Sail" was one of his later works. It depicts the training ship "The Sir Winston Churchill". Painted in a very lively manner Dawson as always catches the sea, wind and speed perfectly. Anyone who loves the sea and ships cannot help but fall in love with this great artists works.
