An elegant cut glass dressing table box with bevelled edges, and a pierced sterling silver push on lid. The lid is engraved with leaf scrolls and strapwork, the central cartouche is embellished with an engraved heraldic hound; the six point piercing indicates the original use as a toothbrush holder. The lid hallmarked for London 1861, maker's mark "IP" over "W" for the Pittway Brothers.

 Dimensions: A little under 1½in/3.8cm high, 7in/17.8cm long.
