BLACK AMETHYST GLASS VASE, ENAMELLED HERON MOTIF |

An excellent, tall, black amethyst chimney shape tapered vase, the spreading lower section with four enamelled prunts on a waisted short base. The vase is hand decorated in white and pale blue enamels with a finely rendered heron standing amongst various large leaf waterside plants, fern sprays and flower heads. The rim is embellished with a band of raised enamel beading and hanging drops, the lower section has a a ring of laurel sprays. The vase is further enhanced with gilt bands. Circa 1890, probably Continental, definite amethyst glow when held to a very strong light.
Condition: Good
Dimensions: A little under 12in/30.1cm, high.
