Ancient prayers in the form of a Buddhist Sutra Manuscript - Mid 17th C AD
The page is made from bark of a mulberry tree and the text, in Tibetan script, is scribed using a stylus and silver ink on a painted panel.
When the Chinese invaded Tibet many of the monasteries were looted and such items as Sutra pages were simply burned in an attempt to supress all religion. Therefore most known examples show signs of scorching or other damage.
