A very handsome serpentine form, walnut pen tray and ink bottle stand. The piece is finely carved with four different leaf sprays: Convolvulus, Holly, Ivy and Hawthorn, a shield to the front is carved with entwined initials. A large, six sided, hinged crystal inkwell with pen rest and brass mounts sits snugly in a customised well. Circa 1900, possibly a little earlier, Swiss or Black Forest in origin.
