.KUBASTA is recognised as a master practitioner of the art of the Pop Up book. Eight wonderful pop ups have been published in this book by Bancroft, an ARTIA PRODUCTION of Czechoslavia. The front cover shows the flying trunk and there is a tab to close it. The second one shows the trunk with the merchant. Moving tab. Next is the merchant in the courtyard with a fountain. Next shows the Princess in the swinging bed, tab. Next is set in the Palace. Next is a kitchen scene with amusing faces. Next is another kitchen scene, with tab. Next a lovely scene with the trunk fast disappearing, a tab changes night to day. Lastly a delightful moonlit scene showing a terrace and ship in the bay by moonlight. Altogether a very nice example of a very hard to find book.
Condition: Very Good. The spine (often a weak point) has been reinforced by linen tape. A small piece of unobtrusive archive tape strengthens edge of trunk on cover or repairs a slight tear. First kitchen scene has repair wheretiny layer of paper restored, not obvious but known to us. Trunk lid has crease where the tab has been pulled up carelessly. Otherwise scenes are complete & uncreased Age related edge wear.
