A REALLY STRIKING SILVER AND ENAMEL CIGARETTE BOX MEASURING 15cm x 10cm. THE HALLMARK AND FOIL LABEL DECREE A SPANISH ORIGIN. THE LABEL BEARING THE WORDS “PLATA DEL LEY”, WHICH TRANSLATES TO “STERLING SILVER”. WE ARE UNABLE TO ASSESS A PRECISE AGE BUT WOULD SUGGEST MID 20th CENTURY. THE DEEP RED ENAMEL TOP FEATURES A GOLD OVERLAID DEPICTION OF THE “MARY ROSE”. (THREE LIONS AND PRINCE OF WALES FEATHERS ON THE SAIL). THE BOX IS CEDAR LINED.
Condition: Excellent. THERE ARE TWO VERY MINOR SCRATCHES TO THE ENAMEL AS CAN BE SEEN IN PICTURE No.1. ONE IN THE FLAG AT THE TOP AND ONE TO THE TOP LEFT OF THE SAIL. MENTIONED ONLY TO BE ABSOLUTELY ACCURATE.
