A 'Jackfield' Cream Jug
|
Dateline: Circa 1800 |
Item# 32521 |
A so-called Jackfield black glaze cream jug of ornate design. Made of red clay and covered with a glossy black glaze these pieces were traditionally said to have been made in the area around Jackfield, in Shropshire. In fact many Staffordshire potteries produced this ware. Most of these pieces were produced from the 1740's to the end of the eighteenth century. As is usual with this type of ware, it is unmarked.
Condition: Very Good. There is a tiny flake missing from the edge of the lip. Otherwise this piece is in original condition.
Dimensions: 8.5cm high x 13.0cm at it's widest
