A Creamware Food Warmer and Cover
|
| Dateline: Circa 1800 |
Item# 35965 |
A Creamware food warmer and cover, possibly made in Leeds around 1800. Of cylindrical form with two strap handles to either side of the body. There is a shield shaped opening at the front which would have allowed access to a small spirit burner. The upper body is pierced with a simple 'leaf' pattern. The cover bears a moulded flower and branch finial. Usually associated with Wedgwood or the Leeds Pottery, this present piece is unmarked and so no firm attribution can be made.
Condition: Good. There is a fine hairline crack running up from the top left of the burner opening and also from the rim of the cover, towards the centre. Otherwise, this piece is in good, original, clean condition.
Dimensions: Height: 17.8cm. x 18.9cm across the handles.
