A very fine and scarce amethyst glass scent bottle/vinaigrette, the rectangular cut glass body with scrolling foliate engraved spring catch hinged lid, the base with a similarly decorated vinaigrette, the hinged cover revealing a pierced interior grill and original sponge. Hallmarked in several places for London 1860 and maker's mark "SM" for Sampson Mordan; the vinaigrette lid also stamped "LONDON & RYDER" (a firm of high-class jewellers who had premises at 17 New Bond Street, London between c.1855 - 1890).
 Condition: Good. Very small and unobtrusive dimple to the back of the lid; minor surface age and use wear; no cracks, bruises or hairlines; hinges firm; good firm closures; silver gilt in very good condition - if you have any questions about this item, contact me.
