FINE c.1880 RUBY GLASS DOUBLE END SMELLING SALTS & SCENT PERFUME BOTTLE

A very fine double ended ruby glass scent bottle with an unusual and distinctive flattened top and curved side body. The smelling salts end has a spring loaded silver gilt catch lid, the perfume end a cork lined silver gilt screw top. Both tops are masterfully embossed and engraved with foliate scrollwork and flower heads, each has has a vacant disk for initials or dedication. Circa 1880, the tops are apparently not marked, but have tested positively for silver. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch.
