A fine oval glass box in the classical manner, with a milk glass lid and clear body. The box is set in an ornate ormolu case, the latter decorated with a ram's head, an acanthus motif, floral swags, leaf and berry bands, and tied strands around the rim. The lid is embellished with charming hand painted and hand embellished rose and leaf swags, individual blooms and ribbon bows. The interior of the lid has a woven floral pattern covering. Circa 1890 possibly earlier, probably French.
