A First World War Swiss made men's hunting cased wristwatch in very good condition. The silver case has the London import mark for 1916 & the case makers mark GS The front cover springs open when the button below 6 is pressed, the rear cover is screw on. There are no personal engravings or initials. The enamelled dial retains most of the original luminous paint infill in the numbers. The Swiss lever movement is running well & keeping good time. Hunter & half hunter cases were designed to protect the dial from knocks. More commonly seen in pocket watches, these are quite rare in wristwatches (this is a genuine wristwatch & not a converted pocket watch). Probably bought privately for use in military service, this would most likely have been worn by an officer as watches of this quality would have been very expensive.
