George Washbourne. Bristol. Verge pocket watch

A Georgian pocket watch dateing from around 1800 in a gilt metal case. The case has a smooth finish with no dents. The gilding is good, with some wear to the rear centre & the stem. The bezel is hinged & closes firmly & evenly. The case makers mark WR is stamped on the inside. The 'bullseye' glass is very good, some minor scuffing at the centre. The dial is excellent with no cracks or chips. The verge movement is signed Geo Washbourn Bristol 617. It has a diamond endstone. Running well, gains about 25 minutes per day, this is good timekeeping for a verge of this era.
