Shorter Anemone Sauce Boat &Stand Vintage Staffordshire
|
| Dateline: Circa 1950 |
Item# 31873 |
This little beauty was made by the Shorter pottery, Staffordshire in the 1950's. The small sauce or cream boat is complete with its stand, the pieces modelled as an anemone bloom, the moulding crisp and detailed with a perfect representation in ceramic of the delicate frilled petals. The flowers are hand painted in rich sumptuous graduated glazes. The jug has a green painted stem handle and its foot is so cleverly moulded and then painted to represent the centre of the flower with its green and black stamens. This is echoed in the stand. Both pieces are fully marked with the appropriate backstamp and are in excellent condition.
Condition: Very Good. There is is small, minimal glaze bruise to the extreme edge of the stand only.
Dimensions: The boat is 2.5" high x 5" across handle to spout. The stand is 5" wide.
