Sevres Coffee Can / Cabinet Cup and Saucer

A fine mid-late 20th century Sevres coffee can / cabinet cup and saucer. The piece decorated in "Blue" ground. The panel decorated with a horn and narwhal tusk on a floral and foliate ground, signed lower right Sota New***, indistinct. The body of the cup with beaded gilded rims to both top and bottom. The handle gilded and loop form. The panel flanked by scrolling panels and gilded highlights. The return of the can decorated with raised stars and intersected with dots in a geometric form. The gilding and execution of the can and saucer very fine. Monogram to underside of saucer reading SDN in gilt. This coffee can and saucer is the work of the Sevres factory at it's best. This model was produced in the mid to latter part of the 20th century to show how fine the work of the factory was, it reflects the fine quality of porcelain which would have been produced in the early part of the 19th century when they were commissioned by the Royal Family.
