Antique Staffordshire Porcelain Swan Sauce Boat & Cover
|
| Dateline: Circa 1903 |
Item# 31889 |
An unusual and completely charming small sauce boat modelled as a swan. As the handsome bird glides serenly over the water, a leafy water plant twists and loops to form the handle. The swan's neck, gracefully arched, forms the spout, designed for the liquid to pour from his beak. This is a remarkably successful piece of ceramic modelling and potting, the birds plumage crsiply defined in fine detail, the head exuding character. The cover sits neatly into the top of the pot bewteen his wings to complete the plumage over his back. Marked to base with registration Rd 414775 dating it to between 1903-1904.
Condition: Very Good. In fine condition with no damage, slight rub to green enamel on handle.
