SAUL BAIZERMAN (1889-1957) BRONZE, HEAD OF A YOUNG GIRL
|
Dateline: Circa 1924 |
Item# 31840 |
A finely sculpted bronze portrait bust by the Russian American sculptor Saul Baizerman (1889-1957). Very possibly a likeness of the daughter of the famous portrait and ballet photographer E. O. Hoppé (1878 – 1972). Hoppé was the founder and owner of the Dorien Leigh Gallery, Millais House, London, where Baizerman held his first European solo exhibition in 1924. Image #4 shows Muriel Hoppé, circa 1926. The bronze has a pleasing dark brown to black patina and is mounted on a tall natural wood block stand. Signed to the reverse "S. Baizerman". Family owned from inception, the provenance and ownership credentials of this bronze are genuine and guaranteed. Contact the seller for additional photographs, Baizerman biography, and list of works in museums and public art galleries.
Condition: Very Good. The wooden stand has very light age and use wear.
Dimensions: Height (excl. stand): 10½in/26.5cm. Width: 7¼in/18.5cm. Profile: 6in/15cm. Stand 7¾in/18.5cm high.
