A cast iron fire stove / coal burner manufactured by a James Spear, 1014 and 1016 Market Street, Philadelphia. Marked "New Silver Moon" (No 8). Patented 1877. Of column form on four cabriole legs to a circular base stand, below conical ash trap riddle and adjustable vented doors. In turn the next upper section with further doors providing a loading area, these doors with glass viewing panels. This section being of half round design. On top of this section further curved doors with 4 glazed panels. This surmounted to tubular form upper section with adjustable vents. The cover of graduated turned casting ring design. The stove capped of with an orb action as a lidded cover. The whole piece being of fine quality and decorated with Gothic designs. Titled "New Silver Moon" design.
Condition: Good. Complete and in working order. Very good condition for its age and therefore very easy to restore. This would need sand blasting (blanking glazed panels to saving them from damage). It would then be painted with stove enamel which is heat resistant.
